**Sadly, we have been unable to harvest fresh Mussels this week due to the presence of heavy metals in the majority of the growing areas that we harvest from in the Sounds.

This is a naturally occurring cycle, where a specific zooplankton produces deposits of organic arsenic. Over time this will clear away. MPI have implemented a precautionary closure to carry out further testing to ensure that as an industry we maintain our incredibly high food safety standards.

We plan to harvest & re-open on Tuesday 6^th Jan 2026.
